Native American Paintings
I captured the following images during a climbing trip to Hueco Tanks State Historic Site, which is located Northeast of El Paso, Texas. Hueco is known for it's unique history as a Native American site. The small, 860 acre outcrop of rocks derives it's name from the bowl-like depressions in the rock, which capture precipitation. The spanish word Hueco, translates to "hollows." It is due to this unique feature, that Hueco Tanks has served as an oasis for countless generations of humans. The painings, which have survived for thousands of years, are found under the overhangs of rock -thus protected from the erosive forces of the wind and rain.
