So, I took a door apart the other day. I needed to see just how much work would be required to perform the repairs. |

---|---|
About six years ago, during the initial rebuild, I injected foam into the door cavities, hoping that this would stem the rust taking place. |
More foam, though the door frames are in wonderful condition. I wonder what they look like inside the frame... |
This is how the factored sealed the frame to the Birmabright door panel. |
This is a view of the bottom front corner. A bit more rust down here. |
Not too bad in the back. |
A rather thin piece of steel that is a part of the door-latch frame has split. That should be an easy repair. |
Above the door lock, ther is evidence of rust due to chipped paint. It apears that a previous owner was paying attention to it as it has been coated. |
The inside of the lower corners are not looking too good. |
The front-lower. |
These areas will require a rather extensive repair. The most difficult part will matching the patch panels to the proper curves. The door frames will be galvanized, so I guess that I will have to acid dip these parts to clean out the foam. |
