So the roof of my SIII has a few issues. The first is a dent in the left rear corner, more specifically a crunch. Since the damage occured before my purchase I don't know it's origin. The plan is to pound that out as best as possible. The second issue is the headliner. The original headliner was moldy, sagging, and staind, so it was tossed 5 years ago. The plan is for no headliner, just a nice Limestone paint job.
The first obstacle is this tenacious black stuff used to glue the original headliner on. This will foul the paint job, so it must go. I tried attacking it with the orbital, but that just isn't going to happen. I need advice here. |

20 min. with the orbital brought dissapointing results. |

This is what the stuff is like. Several mm thick in places and very hard. |

The galvanized drain channel will not be removed for these repairs. |

The dent as seen from the interior |

The exterior shot. My plan is to anneal the area with the torch, this should soften the aluminum (birmabright) enough for me to pound it out. I will probably have to anneal it several times as the aluminum work hardens. |

I do not plan on removing any of the rivets, hoping that this will make the task easier. Do you have a different opinion? |
