This modification for a Cone came to me at a time when I was working with bamboo. Beyond my own personal interests in bamboo, I was quite intrigued with the use of this wood as structural support. Eastern countries often use bamboo in place of steel in scaffolding and other more permanent structures like homes. Drawing from these concepts, I envisioned the bamboo as an integral part of a glass piece. Which is why the piece pictured below features a bamboo layout in its cross-section. I see where the softened texture of the Sand-Swissed glass works well with the many characteristics of bamboo, and I plan on making further use of this coupling of materials.
